Meta Unveils Audio-Only AI Glasses and Slimmer Gen 3 Ray-Ban Smart Glasses

The glasses will also support “Hologram” personas for video calls, giving users another way to appear during conversations without relying solely on the traditional camera view.

Meta has expanded its smart glasses lineup with three new products, including the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, a new audio-only model, and a more affordable Meta-branded option starting at $249.

The new glasses come as the smart eyewear market continues to attract growing interest. Meta is doubling down on the category with updated designs, longer battery life, and new options aimed at different types of users.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3: More Battery, More Styles

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is now available starting at $449. Along with a slimmer design, Meta has increased the battery life to up to 9 hours, which is one hour longer than the previous-generation model.

Despite the design changes, Meta is keeping the camera capabilities that users have come to expect from its smart glasses. The Gen 3 can record video at up to 3K resolution, while the updated hardware includes adjustable temple tips designed to provide a more comfortable fit.

Meta is also giving users more choices when it comes to the look of the glasses. The new generation is available in 27 frame-and-lens combinations across three styles: Aviator, Wayfarer, and Zena, a cat-eye design.

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is available to order through Meta’s online store, giving users the option to choose a style that fits their personal preference while getting the latest hardware updates.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 Gets a Slimmer Design

The new Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 features a slimmer design and improved battery life compared with previous models. The updated glasses are aimed at users who want the features of smart eyewear while keeping a more traditional glasses profile.

Meta’s latest release comes at a time when smart glasses are becoming increasingly visible in the consumer technology market. The company has continued to expand its partnership with Ray-Ban while also developing its own Meta-branded glasses.

Meta Introduces $249 Adventurer Glasses

Meta is also introducing a new Meta Adventurer model as a lower-priced option. The glasses start at $249 and come with a black frame, grey lenses, and a plug-in charging case.

According to Meta, the new model will be available from October 23.

The entry-level pricing gives users another way to enter Meta’s smart-glasses ecosystem without moving directly to its higher-priced models.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio Drops the Camera

One of the more notable additions is the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, an audio-only pair of smart glasses priced from $349.

Unlike Meta’s camera-equipped smart glasses, the new model removes the camera completely. This allows Meta to create a slimmer and lighter design while focusing on audio features.

The glasses weigh 43 grams and are rated for up to 12 hours of use on a single charge. Meta says the charging case can provide up to 48 hours of additional battery life.

The company has also added several hardware adjustments, including adjustable temple tips, adjustable or interchangeable nose pads, and overextension hinges. These features are designed to improve comfort and allow users to adjust the fit.

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio will be offered in Clubmaster and Burbank styles, with multiple frame and lens combinations available.

Meta Continues Its Push Into Smart Glasses

The latest releases show that Meta is taking a broader approach to smart glasses. Rather than focusing on a single product, the company now offers different designs and feature sets aimed at different users and price points.

The audio-only model could appeal to people who want smart audio features without a built-in camera, while the lower-priced Meta Adventurer provides a more accessible entry point.

With the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 adding a slimmer design and improved battery life, Meta is also continuing to refine the smart glasses experience rather than treating the category as a short-term experiment.

Meta Adds New Features to Display Glasses

Meta is also expanding the capabilities and availability of its Ray-Ban Display glasses. The company is adding several new features, including hands-free navigation, new apps, phone notification mirroring, and integration with Threads.

The glasses will also support “Hologram” personas for video calls, giving users another way to appear during conversations without relying solely on the traditional camera view.

Meta is expanding the Display glasses beyond the US as well. They are now set to become available in the UK, Canada, France, Italy, and Germany, giving more users access to the company’s display-equipped smart glasses.

In the US, customers can now order the glasses online. The Ray-Ban Display glasses remain priced at $799.

As smart eyewear develops, the balance between useful technology, comfort, privacy, and familiar everyday design will remain important. Meta’s latest lineup suggests the company sees smart glasses becoming a more regular part of consumer technology.
