Starlink Sees Steady Growth in France Despite Strong Local Networks
Starlink’s residential internet service has gained nearly 160,000 customers in France since its launch in 2021, according to a report by Le Figaro. This growth shows that there is clear interest in satellite internet, even in a country with well-developed ground-based networks.
The company has noted that France already has strong terrestrial internet coverage, which limits how many new customers Starlink can attract compared to regions with poor connectivity. Because of this, growth in France is steady but relatively modest.
In contrast, countries like Brazil and several African nations are seeing much faster adoption of Starlink, mainly because traditional internet infrastructure is weaker or unavailable in many areas. Still, Starlink’s French operations continue to benefit from gradual growth, especially in rural and hard-to-reach regions.
On a global level, Starlink is expanding very rapidly. By December 2025, the service had more than 9 million active users worldwide. At one point during the year, Starlink was adding over 20,000 new customers per day, highlighting strong global demand.
French users who subscribe to Starlink report high satisfaction, mainly due to faster internet speeds and lower latency compared to their previous connections. This makes Starlink an attractive option for users who need reliable and high-performance internet, especially outside major cities.
